Election Observer

What are you going to do on June 3, 2012 ? That’s an Election Day for Cambodian citizens choose their commune councilors to do administration affairs at local.

To me, beside a Voter I will be at field to monitoring the process of elections and announce to the public be aware about what’s going on that day ? Because I will be an Election Observer.

Some may able to do this but some not and it’s depend.

I Love Teaching

Two weeks in the training round inspired me to live my commitment to be a Professor for a while. This chances clearly provided me trial times to express and drum up my ability to be a Teacher. Even it’s just a small space but I can tell my audience were received basic knowledge and able to understand the standard level of the goal of training. I love the way my audience asked and the way I responded. I think I have talent in teaching.

Teaching spend power to speak up and times to research and draft lesson plan. To be a teacher is not easy but at least he is a very useful resource and should contribute to build a quality of next generation. I am strongly intend to be a teacher when I complete my Master degree course in the end of this year. I Love Teaching.

This morning, I made a presentation on 1-Code of Conduct for International Observers 2-Voting/Counting Procedure of Commune Councils Election 2012.

My audience are 14 foreigner. I spend 30mns for singing the regulation and make them laugh

Committee for Free and Fair Elections in Cambodia (COMFREL) is a local NGO functioning nationwide since 1995. COMFREL’ strategies are to dedicate contribution towards the promotion of democracy and democratic governance through elections, improved legal and institutional reform, and increased awareness for promoting accountability, transparency and popular participation. One of those is to get public support through media and campaign, in which COMFREL is focusing on vocal media, especially by running “Voice of Civil Society” radio programs.

COMFREL is urgently seeking a qualified Cambodian to fill a position of Media Officer based in Phnom Penh.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Involve the advocacy and lobby activities;
• Involve and facilitate advocacy working group;
• Organize and facilitate radio programs of VoC
• Assist to facilitate the radio programs;
• Assist in writing press release and recommendation;
• Write report of program activities;
• Edit Khmer language document.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Media (Press) or relevant fields.
• At least 2 years related work experience.
• Knowledge of election, human right, democracy, Gender, governance and decentralization.
• Good skill with Social media (Website, Facebook, twitter, blog, Skype, Flickr, etc).
• Good skill with Radio program.
• Ability to communicate effectively with government agencies, international organizations, and civil society organizations.
• Good understanding of NGOs work and good advocacy skills.
• Experience of team work.
• Good skill in computer program (Word, Excel, Power-point, etc.)
• Good writing and Speaking English and Khmer.
• Good Khmer edit.

• Cost: USD 19.5 million estimated; government would cover 76% and asks donors to support the rest (24%)
• Election campaign: from 18.05. to 01.06.12. Each party has 12 minutes campaign time daily on television and radio, 2 six minutes spots per day: 6 minutes video spot and six minutes debates organized by National Democratic Institute (NDI).
